The Spanish Interprofessional Association of Poultry Meat (Avianza) has welcomed the suspension of the strike in the sector "positively," agreed upon after the mediation meeting held this Wednesday at the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA). In that meeting, the unions decided to void the dates scheduled for the five days of stoppages called in November, according to the organization in a statement.

According to Avianza, this step allows progress to continue in the negotiation of the State Agreement for Poultry and Rabbit Slaughterhouses, a demand that the business side had been raising in order to be able to continue with the dialogue.

The next mediation session has been set for November 16 at the SIMA headquarters, where the latest offer presented by the companies will be reviewed and an attempt will be made to bring positions closer together in order to close an agreement.

From Avianza, together with AMPE (Association of Chicken Slaughterhouses of Spain) and Amaco (Association of Poultry and Rabbit Slaughterhouses), it is insisted that keeping the dialogue "open" is the "best way" to achieve a balanced agreement, one that takes into account both the workers' demands and those of the companies, and that ensures the supply of Spanish poultry meat products to consumers.

The business side has reiterated its "commitment" to the implementation of reference labor conditions for the poultry meat sector, through proposals that include wage increases with guarantee systems linked to the CPI to safeguard purchasing power, a reduction in the annual working day, and improvements in paid leave, work-life balance, and medical care.

At the same time, the companies in the sector reaffirm their commitment to health and safety at work, the continuous improvement of conditions in the plants, and cooperation to address challenges such as absenteeism, in line with the modernization process that the Spanish poultry meat industry is undergoing.

In this context, the poultry interprofessional considers it "good news" that the talks continue, both for the sector as a whole and for consumers, as it helps maintain the stability of productive activity.
