The Consellería do Medio Rural begins this Friday, October 30, the period to submit applications for a new line of aid endowed with 3.6 million euros, aimed at compensating for the impact of the conflict in the Middle East on Galicia's agricultural and livestock holdings. The objective is to support some 4,500 farming professionals to cope with the increase in costs of fertilizers and diesel fuel.
These direct subsidies are being launched after the Sectoral Conference on Agriculture and Rural Development approved, on October 21, the distribution of funds among the different autonomous communities.
In that framework, Galicia was allocated 1.6 million euros, an amount that the Xunta decides to reinforce with another two million from its own resources.
As the Xunta announced this week, the aid will be managed with the greatest possible administrative agility, so that the holdings can withstand the economic strain derived from this exceptional situation. The deadline to register applications will be 10 days from this Friday.
Subsequently, farmers will have to accept or reject the aid through a form available on the electronic headquarters of the Xunta de Galicia. The Galician Government's forecast is that the beneficiaries will receive the payment before the end of the year.
The measure will have a horizontal character and will apply to the set of agricultural and livestock sectors, without setting exclusions or priorities by type of production, provided that the established requirements are met.
Among these conditions are being registered in the special regime for self-employed workers (RETA) or in the special system for self-employed agricultural workers, within the agricultural activity branch, obtaining at least 25% of their income from agricultural activity and having submitted the single application for the CAP 2026 campaign.
