USAGA, integrated into Unión de Uniones at the state level, has made a call to Asturian farmers and ranchers to attend the demonstration and tractor protest called in Madrid on October 28, where urgent measures for the sector will be demanded under the slogan "Feeding must provide to live."

Among the priorities of the agricultural organization is the sharp increase in production costs, for which it demands the implementation of a professional diesel with reduced taxation and a direct discount applied at the pump.

USAGA emphasizes that the impact of the conflict in the Middle East adds to the increases already accumulated in recent years, stemming from the war in Ukraine and various geopolitical circumstances that have notably raised agricultural input costs.

The organization insists that agriculture and livestock farming are essential activities and demands that this strategic nature is also reflected in the decisions of the administrations and in the design of public policies.

In the specific case of Asturias, USAGA denounces the situation that ranchers are going through due to wolf attacks and reproaches the Ministry for, in its view, not correctly identifying the damages, not adequately compensating for the losses, and maintaining a management plan that "clearly is not working."

Another of the main demands focuses on respect for the food chain law. The organization considers that the lack of profitability of the farms is exacerbated by the imbalance in the value chain, where the industry and distribution hold a dominant position, while the consumer ends up paying "almost four times more" than what the producer receives.
