A young woman declared this Tuesday that a man sexually assaulted her taking advantage of the fact that she was drunk and under the effects of drugs, and explained that she has no memory since the early morning of the night when the events occurred, in September 2024.
"I went out partying with my friends and everything was normal until a moment when I went to the bathroom and from there I don't remember anything else. The next day I woke up naked in a hostel. I didn't know where I was," she stated during the first day of the trial being held at the Provincial Court against the accused, for whom the Prosecutor's Office is requesting nine years in prison and compensation of 3,000 euros, of which, according to the defense, he would have already paid 1,000.
The complainant explained that, upon regaining consciousness in the hostel, she felt a strong pain in the genital area and noticed that she had scratches on her legs. The oral hearing will continue this Wednesday, when the accused is expected to testify and answer questions from all parties at the end of the session.
Interrogated insistently by the accused's lawyer, the young woman reiterated on numerous occasions that she "did not remember" what happened and rejected that the complaint was due to fear of possible reactions from her family for having been absent for so many hours as a minor at that time.
In her testimony, the woman indicated that she does not recall having ingested any substance other than alcohol nor that anyone offered her anything that night, and emphasized that she did not consume cocaine. She also does not remember, she pointed out, having rejected calls from her relatives during the morning nor having checked in or paid for the room at the hostel where she appeared.
According to her, about six months after the incident, she crossed paths with the man in a bar and decided to ask him for explanations. "I told him that I didn't understand how he could have done that to a girl, when he had a daughter," she recounted before the court.
According to the indictment from the Public Prosecutor's Office, the events took place on September 24, 2022, when the young woman went out with some friends in the leisure area of s'Arenal and consumed alcoholic beverages.
After spending the night partying, around 07:00 hours she met the accused, 41 years old, with whom, according to the prosecutor's version, she took drugs and continued the night at several venues.
At around 6:00 PM, and taking advantage of the fact that the victim was exhausted and unable to react, the man allegedly took her to a hostel in Palma, where he presumably raped her.
