The head of the Court of Plaza 1 of the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of El Ejido (Almería) ordered this Wednesday the provisional imprisonment, communicated and without bail of the two arrested for the double shooting registered last Monday in the neighborhood of Santa María del Águila, an event that resulted in no injuries from firearms.
Judicial sources consulted by Europa Press have specified that, initially, the detainees are attributed a presumed crime of attempted homicide or murder and another of illegal possession of weapons, details that will be specified during the instruction phase. Both implicated have already testified before the judicial authority.
The investigations indicate that the first episode occurred shortly before 12:30 hours on Monday, when the 091 room received a warning alerting of a possible exchange of shots on Alcazaba street in Santa María del Águila, in the municipal area of El Ejido.
Several patrols immediately moved to the scene and, once there, verified that on the landing of the first floor of a block of flats there were several fired shell casings, in addition to "numerous bullet impacts" on the door of the victim's home. Police investigators counted up to 32 projectile holes.
According to the proceedings carried out, the owner of the attacked house had presented himself minutes earlier at the apartment of his neighbor on the upper floor, where he started a discussion with another man regarding the "dirt" accumulated in the interior patio, a neighborhood dispute that would have ended up resulting in a physical assault.
This conflict between residents, in which other relatives of those involved would also have intervened through threats, would later have led to the shots that its presumed author acknowledged before the agents, who kept two pistols inside a safe. Along with the weapons, the agents seized five magazines capable of holding up to 31 cartridges.
The tension generated by these events lasted until the afternoon, when around 17:50 hours two sons of the assaulted neighbor would have appeared in the neighborhood, each armed with a pistol, and fired new shots, which led to more calls to emergency services to alert about this second shooting.
Eyewitnesses reported that the brothers made threatening expressions in front of the house of the first detainee, where their father was, and they even allegedly struggled with several people who tried to prevent their access to the area. Before leaving the place, they allegedly shot at the man, who came out of his house upon hearing the shouts, although without hitting him.
The agents located two casings very close to each other at the scene of the incident and then went to the home of one of those identified by the witnesses. At the time of his arrest, a fanny pack was seized from him in which he carried 30 cartridges of the same caliber as the casings collected from the ground. The National Police has an open investigation to try to locate the second suspect.
