The Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard maintains that businessman Víctor de Aldama explained the damage suffered in one of his vehicles as an attempted robbery, at a time when the version was circulating that the car had been shot at.
This is stated in an official document sent to the judge of the National Court Santiago Pedraz, which Europa Press has accessed, within the framework of the investigation into Aldama in the so-called 'hydrocarbons case'.
The agents detail that, based on the analysis of conversations of Aldama with people in his circle about an Audi A8, it was confirmed that on September 28, 2024, the vehicle registered damage to the driver's window that could have been caused "either by a blunt object --punch or hammer punch--, or by shots fired with a small caliber firearm".
They recall that the incident became publicly known days later, on October 1, when it was reported by various media and cited in a report presented by Aldama's defense, which indicated that "among the documented facts that raise the level of threat are the shooting of his vehicle (Audi, valued at about 150,000 euros) with three shots while it was parked on the public road".
According to the UCO, on the very day of September 28, Aldama sent a trusted person photographs of the damage to the window. "I'll tell you later when I'm with Julio. But we may already have the story we needed. I don't know if it's an attempted robbery or shots," he indicated in a message.
Messages, doubts, and assessment of the environment
"Simultaneously," the official document continues, Aldama sent those same images to another person "asking for their opinion on the damage due to their interest in hunting and their experience with weapons," adding: "Ramón is freaking out. But it can be useful for us."
The investigators add that he also sent the photographs to his brother Rubén, maintaining the doubt of whether it was an attempted robbery or shots, and forwarded some messages that, he claimed, came from "a special from the GAR," where it was concluded that, "at first glance," the impacts corresponded to "two blows with a blunt object".
His brother then conveyed his reservations about it being a direct threat: "If they want to threaten you, it seems like a lot of coincidence that they do it on the street the first time you park it. I mean, I understand that if someone wants to threaten another, they follow them, and considering that you always leave the car in the garage, well, they would have planned it in any case when you leave it in the garage."
Communication to the insurer and absence of a report
The UCO explains that Aldama, already convicted in the 'mask case' alongside former minister José Luis Ábalos, communicated the damages to the vehicle's insurance company, presenting them as an attempted theft: "They have tried to steal and have not managed to break the glass," he conveyed.
When the insurer asked him if he had filed a report and if the lock showed any damage, Aldama replied, according to the UCO, that "no": "We haven't filed because it's absurd. Nothing, the glass, I'll send you a photo now. They tried with a punch to break it, but no, we haven't filed a report because we haven't seen it. It was early in the morning and filing a report is ridiculous because it's losing three hours."
