The Civil Guard arrested this Friday in Picanya (Valencia) the alleged founder of Blocus in Spain, a movement linked to the organization of riots and looting through social media. The arrest comes one day before the new mobilizations called for October 31, after the altercations of last weekend in Barcelona.
According to the investigation, the detainee would have created and administered several Telegram groups from which violent actions were promoted under the appearance of student protests. The agents verified that he presented himself publicly as responsible for Blocus in Spain and that he had disseminated a video in which a hooded person proclaimed himself leader of the movement.
The organization used posts on TikTok and QR codes to attract participants to WhatsApp and Telegram groups, where instructions were allegedly shared to organize looting and clashes with the security forces.
The arrest adds to other police actions in recent days. The National Police has arrested in Valencia two young people aged 17 and 18 for their alleged involvement in the dissemination of violent calls, while the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested on Thursday in Lleida a 16-year-old minor accused of administering another Blocus channel.
The investigation remains open in view of the calls disseminated for this Saturday.
