The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, expressed this Tuesday his concern about the episodes of violence recorded in various Spanish cities led by organized groups, and he stated his desire that there is no "contagion effect" to other parts of the country.
In statements to the media in Granada, Juanma Moreno emphasized that these are "absolutely violent and completely unjustified actions": "There is no demonstration there, what there is is violence for pure violence."
Moreno referred to the "damage" that these disturbances generate in the reputational image of the city, in the daily life of the neighbors, in the merchants and, ultimately, "to coexistence and tolerance."
"I believe they deserve a collective reproach from society, a strong reproach from the state security forces towards them and, above all, a judicial reproach; that cannot go unpunished," the president noted regarding those who have led these violent episodes.
He stressed that whoever kicks a shop window, breaks it, and takes "what is inside a store for free, has to pay for it and that is what most Spaniards believe."
"I hope this does not have a contagion effect and that common sense, coherence, and above all the state security forces in the different administrations are able to control this absolutely irrational youth fury that we are experiencing in some Spanish cities," concluded the president of the Junta.
