The spokesperson for the CUP, Su Moreno, has criticized ERC and the Comuns for publicly opposing the expansion of Barcelona Airport while "supporting" the executives who defend it, an attitude she considers contradictory and unsustainable.
In an appearance this Monday at the party's headquarters, Moreno warned that "Responsibilities cannot be spun" and reproached the Comuns for appealing to the European Union to stop the project when, she said, they do not act accordingly from the Council of Ministers itself.
Moreno emphasized that "If we want to stop the PSC's plans, we must stand up to the PSC," and positively assessed the demonstration held this Sunday in Barcelona against the expansion of the Airport, which she considered a sign of social rejection of the project.
She stressed that it "makes no sense" to increase the capacity of the Airport while a public railway system is not guaranteed to be "safe and reliable," and demanded that "not a single euro" more be allocated to the expansion while citizens continue to suffer from the deficiencies of Rodalies.
For Moreno, "It's not that there are no resources, but that the priorities are different from what they should be," making it clear that, in her opinion, the problem is one of political choice and not a lack of funding.
CUP Candidacy in Barcelona
Regarding the municipal candidacy in Barcelona in which the CUP participates and which will be led by the deputy in the Parlament Laure Vega, Moreno explained that the project is being built "from the bottom up," with grassroots participation, and called on the other forces to stop "throwing empty proposals," referring to the proposal from the Comuns' candidate for mayor, Gerardo Pisarello, to articulate a broad left-wing front.
She warned that "Building electoral majorities without a project, without a program, and without the articulated force that supports a candidacy that can be within these parameters is wasted paper," and defended that any alliance must be based on solid political content.
In the same vein, she insisted that possible majorities must arise from a shared project, with a program and concrete goals, something that, she emphasized, is currently "not on the table."
In relation to hypothetical post-electoral agreements of the CUP with formations like the PSC, it has been assured that the candidacy is born with the objective of "throwing out Collboni." However, it has clarified that, if at any moment popular movements and the CUP itself manage to condition the rest of the parties to advance in measures that improve people's lives, the formation will get involved to ensure that such proposals materialize.
Visit of Sánchez, Feijóo, and Abascal to Catalonia
Moreno has also assessed the presence this weekend in Catalonia of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez; the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal. In his opinion, the three leaders share the fact that "they have nothing to offer to Catalonia."
As he has denounced, "On one side racism and xenophobia and on the other crumbs, and this is what they came to offer both sides," marking distances with the proposals of both the right and the central Government.
