Más Madrid, PSOE, and Vox have stated this Monday that the appearance of the spokesperson of the regional Government and Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, last Thursday regarding the 6.3 million attic acquired by the Community of Madrid did not clear up the existing doubts, while the PP maintains that everything is "fully explained" and that they have informed "actively and passively".
The parties have set their position in the press conference following the Board of Spokespersons. On Thursday, García Martín intervened in the Plenary on his own initiative to report on the operation and, after his intervention, distributed a dossier of more than 200 pages with documentation about the property. In addition, this same Monday he appears again on the same matter in the Commission of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration of the Assembly of Madrid.
The spokesperson for Vox, Isabel Pérez Moñino, has assured that the PP and the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, "continue not to give explanations" about the attic and has warned that "sooner or later" the PP will have to "account for it".
In this line, she has lashed out at the Assembly's Board, which she blames for having rejected "initiatives, control questions to the Government, and appearances" related to the "famous luxury attic of Chamberí", considering that they "were not pertinent to be debated in the Plenary". She has announced that she will register reconsideration requests that the Board must evaluate.
"I believe that here it is not valid to play the victim nor are smoke screens valid, here it is not valid to deceive the people of Madrid because certainly Vox did not come to do that," she has warned.
The spokesperson for the PSOE in the Assembly, Mar Espinar, has also accused Ayuso of playing the victim and has stated that she "whines and plays the victim" instead of "giving explanations". She demands clarification on who made the decision to buy the attic, for what purpose, and when the board of directors of Planifica Madrid was informed.
"If everything was so normal and everything was so ordinary and everything was so legal instead of whining she should get to work, take the file if it exists and show it," she has claimed. In Espinar's opinion, it has become clear that a "formal administrative procedure as there should have been" was not followed.
For its part, the spokesperson for Más Madrid, Manuela Bergerot, has stated that Ayuso is "crazy" because she is aware that what she is "covering up is even worse than what has been known so far."
"There is an accounting process in the Court of Auditors and a criminal process in the Prosecutor's Office. We have a penthouse that is absolutely useless, that the Community of Madrid is unable to sell without losing money, and there are the bases of a possible crime of embezzlement," Manuela Bergerot has warned.
The PP defends the management and denies irregularities
In contrast, the spokesperson for the PP in the Assembly, Carlos Díaz-Pache, has denounced that a campaign is being promoted to "continue feeding the news that the left is trying to manufacture to discredit" the regional government.
"The explanations for that property have been given actively and passively. The president has done it, Planifica Madrid has done it, the counselor has done it in full in a statement where he has made all the necessary information and the documents that have been published on the transparency portal available to everyone," Díaz-Pache has listed.
The popular leader also maintains that the central government and the PSOE are "obsessed with Madrid" and with "removing the regional president by underhanded means." "Every time they invent a scandal, it fades away like a sugar cube when the necessary explanations are given, as has happened with all the scandals they have manufactured so far, none of which has worked for them, just as this one will not work," he concluded.
