The Tenants' Union of Madrid will hold a large event on November 15 in defense of the right to housing at the Palacio de Vistalegre, where artists such as Amaral, Inés Hernand, Rozalén, Facu Díaz, Zahara, Rodrigo Cuevas, Miguel Maldonado, Lia Kali, Samantha Hudson, or La M.O.D.A. will gather.

Under the slogan "Union Power: The future is with housing," the organization defines the day as a great political, union, and cultural meeting "to continue the mobilizations for the right to housing" after the general strike on November 11 and to claim "union organization as a tool to transform the living conditions of the social majority."

The program includes musical performances by Amaral, Biznaga, Delaossa, Ill Pekeño & Ergo Pro, La M.O.D.A., La Plazuela, Lia Kali, Parquesvr, Rozalén, Rodrigo Cuevas, Metrika, Restinga, Toldos Verdes, Zahara, Las Petunias, and Tremenda Jauría, configuring a lineup with a prominent presence from the state musical scene.

Alongside the music, references from the cultural and media world such as Alpilpil, Facu Díaz, Inés Hernand, La Prados, Samantha Hudson, Marc Biarnés, Miguel Maldonado, Nerea Pérez de las Heras, and Yunez Chaib will intervene, in addition to militants from the Tenants' Union of Madrid, who will share their experience in the fight for housing.

In a note released by the union, it is emphasized that the combination of performances, interventions, and personal stories "seeks to bring together in one space cultural expression and union organization, bringing the demands for housing closer to diverse audiences and reinforcing the collective dimension of the struggle."

The Palacio de Vistalegre will have an initial capacity of 5,000 attendees, with the possibility of expanding to 8,000 people depending on organizational needs and the response to the call. The ticket price will be 15 euros, and the proceeds will be entirely allocated to cover the costs of the event.

Additionally, a Fila 0 will be launched, that is, a donation modality without attendance, for those who wish to financially support the Resistance Fund of the Tenants' Union of Madrid.

Keep housing at the center of public debate

"In the face of an electoral campaign that threatens to displace the housing crisis from public debate," the union aims to "keep housing at the center of the agenda and demonstrate that mobilization does not end with a day of strike."

This reivindicative act is framed within the cycle of mobilization initiated on September 23 with the eviction of Maricarmen Abascal, which led to the encampment in Puerta del Sol set up three days later, and with which continuity to that dynamic of protest is sought.

In this line, the Tenants' Union proposes the meeting "as a space to turn indignation and mobilization into lasting organization." "Against a model in which housing functions as a business while more and more people have difficulties accessing a home, the union organization seeks to articulate a collective response capable of disputing the material living conditions," the entity has pointed out.

The objective, they insist, is that the demands that have driven the general strike "remain present beyond a specific date and the electoral calendar." "Housing, wages, pensions, and the cost of living are part of the same debate about who can live with dignity and who benefits from the difficulties of the majority," the union has emphasized.
