The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, celebrated this Tuesday in Ceuta his first official meeting with the president of the Autonomous City, Juan Jesús Vivas. In this meeting, both officials agreed that the places to be prepared to accommodate migrants will be determined "from consensus".
This meeting represents the first contact between the two leaders after the approval this same Tuesday by the Government of the 'single command' in Ceuta to address the migratory crisis that the autonomous city is experiencing, under the direct coordination of the head of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory.
Regarding the Royal Decree (RD) of resources and facilities ratified today in the Council of Ministers, Torres and Vivas have agreed that the catalog of spaces intended to host migrants constitutes a "modifiable and flexible maximum proposal" developed "from consensus".
Sources from the Ministry have specified that this list includes infrastructures such as sports complexes and other facilities that are only considered "in case of extreme situation", a scenario that "is not foreseeable to occur", but that is kept planned in case of "an unexpected eventuality".
From Ángel Víctor Torres' department, they also emphasize that there are spaces that are not yet listed in the Royal Decree and that could be incorporated in the planned weekly reviews. They have also pointed out that certain locations could start to be used even before their formal inclusion in the RD, as long as it is done "from consensus".
Finally, the minister has announced that this Wednesday he will preside over the first meeting of the Situation Committee for the management of the Ceuta crisis, in which President Vivas, representatives from all ministries integrated into this collegiate body, and the Government Delegation will participate.
