The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has lashed out at the unions Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) and Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT) after they announced a general strike for housing this autumn. The leader has labeled both organizations as "scoundrels" and reproached them for having kept a "complicit silence" with the "responsible for that crisis," referring to the central Government.

Abascal has spread his criticism through a message on the social network 'X', reported by Europa Press, in which he denounced that "And now they go out to the street to make a general strike against the opposition" and pointed to the Executive as guilty of "the executioners of young people and working families." In his opinion, "In these eight years, millions of life projects have been thwarted due to the difficulty of access to housing."

In that same message, the president of Vox has maintained that "there is only one way out of the maze" of the housing crisis, which, as he detailed, involves "remigration, construction, deregulation, and national priority." Furthermore, he concluded his intervention with the demand that "And that not a single socialist touches the BOE again."

For their part, CCOO and UGT have decided this Monday to promote a 24-hour general strike for this autumn, with the aim of demanding decent wages and ensuring access to decent housing. As they explained in a joint statement, the call still needs to receive the approval of the highest governing bodies of each union.

The union organizations have chosen to take this step after the Congress of Deputies rejected last Friday the royal decree-laws on housing. Following this parliamentary rejection, they have resolved to combine labor demands with the social protests already underway, coordinating with tenant movements and neighborhood associations that demand solutions to the housing problem.
