Anthropic has committed to allocate 45 billion dollars (about 38 billion euros) to the rental of cloud computing capacity for artificial intelligence at the flagship data center of the British Nscale, located in the state of West Virginia (USA), according to sources familiar with the operation cited by Bloomberg.

The contract, with a minimum duration of six years, includes access to around 460 megawatts (MW) of power. To provide this service, Nscale will use Nvidia's Vera Rubin chips, a key piece in the next-generation AI infrastructure.

Nscale, backed by the giant Nvidia, had been looking for a major client for its data center for months after Microsoft withdrew, deciding not to proceed despite having a preliminary agreement since March. This reversal opened the door for Anthropic to enter as the main tenant.

The facilities intended to serve the AI 'startup' will be located in one of the three buildings that make up the Monarch campus. Once completed, the complex will reach a total capacity of up to 1.35 gigawatts (GW) of power, becoming one of the largest data centers oriented towards AI.

With plans to debut on the stock market in the coming weeks, Anthropic, responsible for Claude and Fable, is moving towards annual revenues exceeding 65 billion dollars (just over 56 billion euros), which implies multiplying its billing rate by more than seven compared to the end of last year.

Anthropic was valued at 965 billion dollars (832.781 billion euros) after a funding round in May, placing it among the largest private companies on the planet and surpassing for the first time the valuation of its major competitor, OpenAI.

In parallel, Nscale is also considering a possible stock market launch in the short or medium term, with the aim of consolidating itself as one of the reference 'neoclouds' specialized in the rental of computing capacity focused on artificial intelligence.
