The Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, has reiterated that the Executive has the will to "go further" and intervene in the housing market with the aim of addressing the housing crisis that the country is experiencing.

In an interview on the program 'Malas Lenguas', on La 2, España explained that he trusts that the Permanent Deputation of Congress will soon incorporate the validation of the two Housing decrees that were rejected by the Lower House into the agenda and that the Government considers essential to protect tenants, curb the rise in rental prices, combat speculation, and reinforce an anti-eviction shield.

In this context, he reproached the PP for having used the processing of these decrees to, in his opinion, try to generate confrontation and "attempt to sow discord and artificially pit the tenant against the owner."

Arcadi España emphasized that the Government of Pedro Sánchez has promoted various measures since the beginning of the legislature to address the problem of access to housing, although some did not move forward due to a lack of parliamentary support or the existence of transferred competencies to the autonomous communities. In this sense, he cited the approval of the State Housing Plan 2026-2030 as an example, which has a budget of 7 billion euros.
