Madrid capital will enjoy a particularly favorable combination in November 2026: two consecutive holiday Mondays. November 2 will be a holiday throughout the Community of Madrid due to the transfer of All Saints. A week later, on Monday the 9th, the city will celebrate the Virgin of Almudena.
The calendar allows for chaining two three-day weekends for those who usually work from Monday to Friday and have rest on those days: from October 31 to November 2 and from November 7 to 9. Both dates are listed in the official calendar of the City Council.
The advantage has an important territorial limit. Almudena is a local holiday of Madrid capital; it does not make November 9 a holiday for the entire community.
Why Madrid will have two consecutive bridges
The coincidence comes from two different celebrations. All Saints, on November 1, falls this year on a Sunday. Madrid is one of the communities that moves the rest to the following Monday.
Almudena is celebrated on November 9 and in 2026 it falls directly on a Monday. It is one of the two local holidays of the capital, along with San Isidro, on May 15.
These are not extraordinary days added to the calendar by a last-minute decision. The distribution of already approved holidays concentrates two opportunities for rest in consecutive weeks.
The days to mark
| Date | Celebration | Where it applies | Possible rest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday, November 1 | All Saints | The celebration coincides with Sunday | The additional rest depends on the territorial calendar |
| Monday, November 2 | Transfer of All Saints | All the Community of Madrid | From Saturday, October 31 to Monday, November 2 |
| Monday, November 9 | Virgin of Almudena | Madrid capital | From Saturday, November 7 to Monday, November 9 |
The table describes the possibilities for a regular day from Monday to Friday. Those who work shifts or in activities with service during holidays must pay attention to their specific work calendar.
How the holidays in November look in the rest of Spain
Monday the 2nd will be a holiday in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Community of Madrid, and Navarre.
In Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia, Valencian Community, Galicia, La Rioja, Basque Country, and Region of Murcia there will be no such transfer. Nor in Ceuta and Melilla. The national and regional calendar does not incorporate another weekday holiday during November for those territories, without prejudice to local holidays.

Four days of vacation allow linking ten days of rest
The combination of the two Mondays opens another possibility in Madrid capital. Those who take weekends off and both holidays could link ten days without working by requesting four days of vacation: Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Thursday 5, and Friday 6 of November.
The period would begin on Saturday, October 31, and end on Monday, November 9. It is a possibility derived from the calendar, conditioned on those vacation days being authorized.
Does Madrid have more holidays than the rest?
The uniqueness lies in how they are distributed, not in that the capital automatically receives more annual holidays. La Almudena occupies one of the local holidays planned in its calendar, just as other municipalities have their own celebrations.
Therefore, Madrid has a favorable position this November, but it cannot be stated that it is the only municipality in Spain with two weekdays off without reviewing all local calendars.
The decisive check for each worker is which calendar applies to their workplace. Living in Madrid capital does not mean by itself that one enjoys La Almudena if working in another municipality. And a getaway to a different community may coincide with an ordinary workday at the destination.
