The Brent oil barrel, a reference in the European market, was chaining this Wednesday its third consecutive day of declines and managed to break the level of 85 dollars for the first time in two weeks, in a context marked by the start of the financial offensive of the United States against Iran, dubbed "Economic Pariah," and by the expectations of an understanding about Hormuz in the conversations between the Persian country and Oman.

During the session, Brent recorded an intraday low of 84.71 dollars per barrel, which represents a drop of 4.3% compared to the closing of the previous day and its lowest price since August 10, after having approached the mark of 95 dollars at the end of last week.

For its part, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude reached a minimum price of 79.70 dollars per barrel during the day, its lowest level since August 13 and 3.2% below that recorded at the end of the Tuesday session.

In the geopolitical arena, Iranian authorities have insisted that the "phased plan" agreed with Oman to manage transit through the Strait of Hormuz does not imply the "immediate opening" of this strategic enclave, as the reopening will depend on the fulfillment of the conditions set by Tehran.

"This agreement does not imply the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz starting tomorrow," explained Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Qaribabadi, according to statements collected by the Iranian state chain IRIB in which he emphasized that the reopening is subject "to the fulfillment of the definitive conditions imposed by Iran." Otherwise, he warned, this waterway "will remain closed."
