Fundación 'La Caixa', El Corte Inglés, CaixaBank, Inditex and Santander top the group of companies that contribute the most to the Spanish GDP in 2026, according to a new edition of the study "Business Success and Companies that contribute the most to GDP in 2026", prepared by Advice Strategic Consultants.

Following them are Telefónica, Mercadona, Iberdrola, Cellnex Telecom and Meliá, which complete the 'top 10' of major corporations that contribute the most in economic terms and that, at the same time, are managing to navigate geopolitical tensions, inflation, the uncertainty linked to artificial intelligence, tariffs and the different electoral processes.

The contribution of these large companies to Spain's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2026 includes the spillover effect on SMEs, the creation of jobs and social return. For this reason, their weight is not limited to the economic sphere, but also extends to the financial, social and labor dimensions.

"The ten leading Spanish companies, highlighted in Advice Strategic Consultants' reputation and socioeconomic impact rankings, play a crucial role in mitigating the major structural weak points of the economy: the stagnation of productivity, structural unemployment, the digital divide and the housing crisis," summarized the managing partner of Advice Strategic Consultants, Jorge Díaz Cardiel.

Contribution to GDP and the social fabric

Fundación 'La Caixa' records a contribution of 3.5% to national GDP and, in parallel, maintains intense social activity through its historic Obra Social, which in 2026 has a budget of 711 million euros, focused on caring for elderly people, the sick and the unemployed.

El Corte Inglés, with an economic contribution to GDP of 1.3%, is consolidated as one of the great references of retail, distribution, commerce and fashion in Spain, placing itself among the top positions for direct and indirect contribution to national output and the digital economy. In addition, it ranks among the country's largest private employers, with more than 90,000 direct jobs, broad territorial reach and strong support for local suppliers, including 64,000 SMEs.

CaixaBank adds 1.5% to Spain's GDP, supported by a base of more than 22 million customers and by its driving role in the financing of households and companies. In the social sphere, it promotes financial inclusion, microcredit through MicroBank and maintains a network of branches in rural areas to combat banking exclusion.

Inditex, global leader in the fashion sector and online retail, pays 2.600 million euros in taxes each year, which places it among the main contributors to the State's public accounts, while also sustaining stable employment.

For its part, the Santander bank quantifies its global economic impact through financial indicators such as its profits, the volume of credit granted or its direct tax contributions, while Telefónica adds 22.000 million euros to national GDP, equivalent to 1,31% of the total.
