Generali Investments has launched its first class of tokenized shares of the money market fund "Generali Money Market Fund," a vehicle domiciled in Luxembourg and managed by Generali Asset Management.
The operation is supported by distributed ledger technology (DLT), which allows for the digital representation and notation of the fund's shares, as detailed by the firm in a statement.
This new tokenized class has been designed exclusively for certain authorized companies of the Generali Group to incorporate it into their investment strategies, without being open to other investor profiles.
The Chief Operating Officer of Generali Investments, Emiliano Di Giammatteo, highlighted regarding tokenization that "money market funds constitute an attractive starting point due to their potential to expand distribution, while allowing for more efficient management of liquidity and collateral, both in traditional capital markets and for 'stablecoin' issuers."
