Meliá Hotels International has announced this Tuesday the signing of the future "Meliá Roatán," a new vacation complex whose inauguration is expected for 2029 on the island of Roatán, in Honduras, as detailed by the hotelier in a note.

With this development, the group strengthens its presence in the Caribbean country, less than a year after the incorporation of "Media Luna Resort & Beach Club" (which will operate under the brand "Sol Roatán") into its "Affiliated by Meliá" network, thus consolidating its growth strategy in Central America.

The future resort, which will be managed under the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand, will have 350 rooms and suites, to which 145 "Branded Residences" (brand residences with integrated hotel services) will be added.

The project will incorporate various dining spaces, a "beach club," a "wellness" area and spa, a commercial zone, and facilities prepared to host meetings and corporate and social events.

Developed in collaboration with entrepreneur Piero Dibattista, the complex will feature an architectural design inspired by tropical themes and will offer direct access to the waters of the Mesoamerican Reef System, considered the second largest coral barrier in the world.

The Balearic company has emphasized its intention to continue identifying expansion opportunities in Central American markets such as Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras through its different brands (including "The Meliá Collection," "Zel," "INNSiDE," or "Sol by Meliá"), relying on the growing demand for destinations that combine nature and cultural authenticity.
