Nedgia, the gas distributor of the Naturgy group, and Metrovacesa have signed a framework collaboration agreement to promote the implementation of hybrid energy solutions ready for the use of green gas in the new residential developments of the promoter in Spain, as they communicated this Thursday.

In a first stage, the alliance covers the launch of 430 homes in different locations, including Madrid –with the Residencial Alyssa and Residencial Zinnia promotions, in the area of Los Cerros– and A Coruña –with Residencial Torre Aura and Residencial Torre Cenit, in the San Pedro de Visma area–, leaving open the option to increase the number of projects that benefit from this initiative.

As detailed by Naturgy in a note, the agreement will make it possible for future homeowner communities to have an energy infrastructure designed to integrate green gas, a renewable alternative compatible with current networks and that maintains the same uses as conventional natural gas.

According to the company, these solutions provide "maximum guarantee of comfort, improvement in energy efficiency, and a significant reduction in costs" compared to other energy sources.

The pact also introduces the figure of the 'Building Prepared for Green Gas', which will have supply points suitable for consuming both natural gas and biomethane, a renewable gas generated from the treatment of organic waste. In this framework, Nedgia will provide Metrovacesa with information about the connection options to the gas networks of the properties or urban developments that the promoter manages, acquires, or promotes.

Likewise, the distributor will offer support in terms of technical, regulatory, and technological advice, participate in preliminary studies and specific projects related to gas, and support the supervision of the works and the design of the receiving installations.

With this agreement, both companies advance in a model of business cooperation focused on deploying sustainable energy solutions in the residential sector, aligned with decarbonization objectives and with the "growing" social demand for more efficient homes adapted to the energy future.

"Green gas represents an opportunity to advance in the decarbonization of homes, maintaining the quality of supply and offering competitive energy alternatives," emphasizes the Growth Director at Nedgia, Marta de Pablos, who highlights the company's commitment to "a realistic and efficient energy transition, based on solutions that are already available and that can reach citizens through current networks."
