The president of Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz, has sworn in Christian Andrés Morales Burgos as the new head of Economy and Public Finance, following the censure in the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of José Gabriel Espinoza, who previously held the portfolio.

According to a statement from the Ministry, Morales takes office with the task of "consolidating the economic stability achieved during the first months of management" and accelerating the necessary reforms to boost investment, job creation, and improve the living conditions of the population.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Paz emphasized that Morales has a deep understanding of the current Government's economic policy and that he has directly intervened in the main decisions and negotiations carried out in recent months, which, in his opinion, guarantees the continuity of the economic line followed so far.

In this context, the head of the Bolivian state reiterated that the country is in talks with international financial organizations with the aim of securing between 7 billion dollars (5.997 billion euros) and 10 billion dollars (8.568 billion euros) in resources to support the national economy.

Paz has also tasked Morales with deepening the "50-50 work" alongside provinces, municipalities, and departments, as part of a transformation process aimed at strengthening territorial autonomies and promoting balanced development of the different regions of the country.

Morales, an economist by training, has a broad background in fiscal policy, financial markets, and investment management, and has previously served as deputy minister of Economy, an experience that the Government considers key for the new challenge.

"We will continue the measures that have been implemented and deepen those that are yielding results. Our commitment will be to preserve stability, strengthen public finances, create conditions for investment, production, and employment, and continue to regain confidence in our economy," concluded the new minister upon assuming his duties.
