Sacyr and Built have been awarded the contract to build the new Hospital of Mandurah, in Australia, a project valued by the Government of Western Australia at 950.6 million Australian dollars (about 580.1 million euros). This action is part of the investment program in hospital infrastructure of 5.5 billion Australian dollars (3.356.4 million euros), according to what the Spanish company communicated this Wednesday.
The hospital, defined by the construction company as "one of the most relevant health infrastructure projects in the State," will be executed by the West Alliance Health Alliance (WAHA), formed by the Government of Western Australia and the partners of the joint venture Sacyr and Built, who this same year sealed a strategic alliance to jointly promote initiatives in the country.
The construction work will start in the coming weeks on land adjacent to the current Peel Health Campus and the expectation is that the new hospital center will be operational by early 2029, according to the information provided by Sacyr.
The company estimates that the development of the project will create more than 2,000 jobs, both direct and indirect, and will serve as a driver for the activity of subcontractors, suppliers, and small and medium-sized enterprises throughout Western Australia.
The future public hospital is designed to respond to the "growing demand for care" in the Peel region, one of the areas with the highest demographic dynamism in the State, through "modern, efficient facilities adapted to the future needs of the community."
The Spanish company also emphasizes that, during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, the project team managed to accelerate the start of the works thanks to the alliance execution model, which incorporates digital engineering solutions and integrated design processes. This approach has allowed "to optimize coordination between teams, streamline planning, and provide greater certainty in the progress of the project."
