The European Central Bank (ECB) has communicated to Banco Sabadell the new minimum prudential capital requirements set for 2027, which increase moderately compared to those established for 2026, as detailed by the Spanish entity in a letter sent to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
The new requirements, which will apply from January 1, 2027, are established for the group as a whole and derive from the supervisory review and evaluation process (SREP, for its acronym in English).
Specifically, the consolidated requirement obliges Sabadell to maintain a minimum 'phased-in' CET1 ratio of 9.24% (compared to the previous 8.85%) and a minimum total 'phased-in' capital ratio of 13.61% (above the previous 13.27%).
These ratios include the minimum requirement of Pillar 1 (8%, of which CET1 represents 4.50%), the Pillar 2 requirement, which has been reduced by 10 basis points (2%, of which CET1 accounts for 1.125%), the capital conservation buffer (2.50%), the requirement linked to its status as "another systemically important entity" (0.25%), and the countercyclical buffer (0.86%).
As of June 2026, Sabadell's 'phased-in' CET1 capital ratio stood at 13.16% and the total 'phased-in' capital ratio reached 18.12%, which implies a capital surplus over the new MDA level of 392 basis points.
