WiZink, an entity focused on the consumer credit business, closed the first half of 2026 with losses of 3.07 million euros, which implies a cut of 55% compared to the 'red numbers' recorded in the same period of the previous year, according to statistics from the Bank of Spain consulted by Europa Press.
Between January and June, the total income of the bank (gross margin) reached 146.3 million euros, 1.6% less than a year earlier. Within this item, the interest margin, that is, net interest income, stood at 131 million euros, which represents a slight decline of 0.4%. For its part, net commissions fell by 10%, to 14.8 million euros.
In the chapter of costs, personnel expenses were reduced by 21.8%, standing at 25.8 million euros, while other administrative expenses decreased by 9%, to 42 million euros. The effect of amortizations was 9.08 million, 9.8% less, and provisions also decreased, by 17.2%, to 7.9 million euros.
In parallel, WiZink is holding talks with Unicaja for a possible corporate operation. In April, the Andalusian entity confirmed "preliminary talks" for said operation and, since then, no further details have been known about the progress of the process.
In this context, Unicaja has the financial advice of PwC, while Uría Menéndez acts as legal advisor. The entity emphasized that no "definitive decision" has been made and has not specified whether the eventual agreement would cover 100% of WiZink or only part of its activity.
