EH Bildu has presented several initiatives in the Basque Parliament for the Department of Health to provide explanations about a possible closure of radiology services in the health centers of the OSI Barrualde-Galdakao, as well as about the "unusual waits and queues" recorded at the health center of Bergara during the first days of August.
The parliamentarian Rebeka Ubera has directed one of her questions, registered this Tuesday and collected by Europa Press, to the situation of the Integrated Health Organization (OSI) Barrualde-Galdakao, focusing on radiological care in the clinics of this area.
According to Ubera, she is aware that "the person responsible for radiology at the health centers decided to close the radiology service" in the clinics of this OSI during the summer vacation months, which would have affected the provision of this diagnostic service.
Explanations about the closure of radiology
In light of this situation, the representative of EH Bildu demands that the Minister of Health, Alberto Martínez, confirm whether this closure has indeed occurred and, if so, detail in which specific centers the radiology services were suspended and what the reasons were for making that decision.
Additionally, she requests clarification on whether the closure affected all radiology services of the OSI Barrualde-Galdakao or only part of them, as well as the exact dates on which they remained inactive. Rebeka Ubera also requires the minister to explain whether such a measure entails or not "an increase in waiting lists" for diagnostic tests.
Queues at the health center of Bergara
Through another parliamentary question, the representative of EH Bildu focuses on what happened at the health center of Bergara, where, she notes, during the first week of August "large queues of patients formed."
In this context, Ubera asks Martínez to specify what caused those "unusual waits and queues" at the mentioned health center, with special attention to what happened on August 4. She also demands that it be specified how many primary care doctors have served at the health center of Bergara throughout the first three weeks of August.
Situation of the positions and hiring in Osakidetza
The parliamentarian also requests detailed information about the number of structural and non-structural positions in primary care medicine existing at the health center in Bergara, as well as how many of those positions are effectively filled at present.
Alongside these two questions, Ubera has registered a request for documentation addressed to the Department of Health, in which it demands data on the volume of hiring of temporary medical staff in primary care and in hospitals carried out by Osakidetza between June 1 and August 28, 2026, with the aim of precisely understanding the policy of reinforcements and substitutions in the Basque health system.
