The hangover from the midterm elections in the United States continues to be the main focus on social media. It has been the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who leads this Thursday the classification of the conversation on social media, section of Poder Digital de Demócrata with one of the publications with the widest reach of the last few hours after reacting to the results of the US elections. His message on X has surpassed two million views, with a reading of the results that directly transfers to the electoral campaign in Spain of November 29.
"Yesterday, American society voted against policies that only impoverish. Against hatred. Against sexism. Against climate denialism and against the privileges of the elites," the President of the Government wrote this Wednesday morning.
Sánchez linked the American result to the political evolution of Brazil and anticipated a similar scenario in Spain. "It happened in Brazil. It has just happened in the US. And it will soon happen in Spain", he said. The message concluded with a direct reference to his main electoral opponents: "The ultra wave that they want to ride, Feijóo and Abascal, is no longer growing: it is falling apart".
What moves the most on social media
These are the results of La conversación en redes, the Poder Digital section by Vinces that allows following the publications of Spanish politicians with the most interactions on X, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
The latest ranking analyzes 2.812 publications distributed during the last 30 hours and orders the content according to the sum of the interactions it has received.
The publication has accumulated widespread reach during the full pre-campaign for 29N with more than 145,000 interactions between 'likes', comments, and reposts.
Irene Montero sweeps with her reaction to the US elections
The second place in this ranking is held by the Podemos MEP Irene Montero, who has achieved notable impact on TikTok with a video published on the same Wednesday, in which she warns that Donald Trump's electoral defeat will not be enough if it is not accompanied by political changes. "Today the United States has said enough to Trump. It is a good day for humanity because that is not the world we want," she assured in a political intervention.
However, he adds: "Either Trump's defeat serves to force deep changes, or Trump and his will have won just the same", Montero affirms. The video has achieved 103,511 interactions, distributed among 91,504 'likes', 3,867 comments and 8,140 shares. In addition, it accumulates 585,104 views.
Sánchez's reaction and Montero's reflect two different readings of the American outcome. While the president of the Government uses it to defend the PSOE's electoral possibilities against PP and Vox, Podemos leader calls for the Republican defeat to be translated into political changes of greater scope.
