The Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, has indicated that his department expects to have analyzed another 20 educational centers by next November, with the aim of promoting their air conditioning, which will be added to the 20 already studied to date.
Vera has responded to a question about the air conditioning plan for the centers posed by the PSIB deputy, Amanda Fernández, during the plenary session of the Parliament held this Tuesday.
The socialist parliamentarian has recalled that "At the beginning of the legislature, in August 2023, you announced that you were finalizing an air conditioning plan. Last Tuesday, the president said that before the end of the legislature they will have an investment plan to start air conditioning," reproaching the apparent contradiction in the announced timelines.
In this regard, Fernández has insisted on her criticism by asking: "How do we stand? Were you finalizing it in August 2023 or will you have an investment plan four years later to start finalizing? Who is lying?".
For his part, the minister has defended that all the educational centers tendered and inaugurated in the current legislature already have adequate air conditioning systems, while the rest of the facilities, with very different situations among them, are being analyzed by the Fueib.
As he has detailed, since the beginning of the legislature, 20 centers have been evaluated and the forecast for November is to reach another 20 additional centers, while the air conditioning actions are being carried out progressively.
Vera has emphasized that "And if we haven't gone faster, it has been due to the inherited situation. If we have to prioritize between reinforcing a roof and air conditioning, we prefer to reinforce," thus justifying the pace of interventions in the educational centers.
