The spokesperson for Vox, Manuela Cañadas, has conditioned her party’s support for the 2027 budgets on the regional Executive complying with the agreements previously reached. In response to this demand, the vice president and conseller of Economy, Finance and Innovation, Antoni Costa, has reiterated that they will only address "strictly budgetary" issues.

During the control session to the Govern, Cañadas has called for a timetable to be set to implement measures such as "national priority," tax cuts in housing matters, a brake on "ideological spending" and the "cut to superfluous political spending." These conditions are, according to what she has emphasized, the basis for sitting down to negotiate the spending ceiling and the future regional accounts.

Costa has responded by detailing the Executive’s criteria for entering into dialogue: maintaining discretion in the conversations, sticking exclusively to budgetary matters and not crossing certain "red lines." "We ask for total discretion, I confess that it has not been complied with today," he has reproached Cañadas, who in turn has reproached the Govern for seeking Vox’s support when, in her opinion, it "drags along key points without fulfilling them."

The vice president, who last Friday began the round of contacts with the spokespersons of the parliamentary groups, has urged Santiago Abascal’s party to act with "broad-mindedness" and to "assume their responsibility" in the negotiation of the accounts.

The PSIB calls for reinforcement of social aid

The spokesperson for the PSIB, Iago Negueruela, has urged the conseller to launch "solid measures" to combat inflation. "People are not making ends meet and you do not want to reach an agreement," he censured during his speech.

Negueruela has considered that the 125 million euro package announced to support the economic sectors is, in essence, the same one that was approved last March, despite the fact that "the reality is different" because many permanent discontinuous workers have already ended the season. For this reason, he has proposed that the Govern complement the benefits of these employees, support the popular legislative initiative to improve pensions in the Balearic Islands, move toward free university tuition fees, and reinforce dependency aid, among other proposals.

In his reply, Costa has pointed out that in the coming days he will present to the different economic sectors the plan of 125 million euros with the aim that inflation "does not impact the citizens' shopping basket". He has also highlighted that "more than 300 million euros mobilized in a year to combat the rise in prices in Baleares", stressing that, according to him, no other autonomous community has carried out "a similar effort".

Likewise, the vice president has criticized the socialist spokesperson for demanding more actions from the Govern when, he said, the central Government "has not been able" to abolish VAT on basic foods or to reduce it on hydrocarbons.
