The president of the Govern, Marga Prohens, has demanded that the Delegation of the Government prepare a large operation of the security forces in anticipation of a possible celebration this Friday in Palma of a "kale borroka" concentration, in line with those recorded in Barcelona.
Prohens made this statement this Tuesday in the plenary session of the Parlament, in response to a question from the spokesperson of Vox, Manuela Cañadas, about the actions planned in light of the "risk" that the protests experienced in Barcelona could be reproduced in the Balearic Islands.
According to what "Diario de Mallorca" reported this Tuesday, the call is being spread through a group on the messaging application Telegram. The event would be on Friday afternoon and, although it is urged to be "peaceful," some messages encourage "looting luxury stores" or responding with violence to any "aggression" from the security forces.
"I believe that the episodes in Barcelona, in Paris, in Lyon, or in Milan can only deserve condemnation, they are not demonstrations or protests, they are disturbances and episodes of violence and crime encouraged by the extreme left," Prohens defended in the regional Chamber.
For the Balearic president, "the looting and thefts from businesses and small shops" project the feeling that the administrations "are not capable of protecting" the population, something that, in her opinion, "cannot be allowed."
For this reason, and in light of a call that she has described as "kale borroka," she has demanded that the Delegation of the Government "have all police forces ready to act swiftly and decisively at the slightest hint of violence."
"They must guarantee the protection of the security forces, businesses, and establishments. They must be prepared to protect our people, the citizens of the Balearic Islands. They should carry out identifications and arrests, let the full weight of the law fall upon them. And if anyone has entered irregularly, they should be returned home the same day," the head of the regional Executive has demanded.
In her intervention, Cañadas has also called for preventive measures ahead of the possible protest on Friday and has maintained that a city "cannot be at the mercy of those who want to exercise violence, directed by the left and subsidized by globalism."
"Who should be afraid, the street terrorist who goes out to loot a business or the worker who opens his business every morning?", has raised the spokesperson of Vox. Although she has admitted that with the current data it is complicated to anticipate what will finally happen in Palma, she has assured that "the worst is expected".
Likewise, the parliamentary leader of Vox has held responsible for what happened in Barcelona, where the riots have left around 130 detainees, many of them minors, the migrant people.
