The Parliament has rejected this Tuesday to urge the Government to review the calls for grants from the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics aimed at the external projection of music and cultural activities of the Balearic Islands, so that non-profit cultural associations could also access them.
This approach was part of a non-legislative proposal (PNL) presented by the PSIB and submitted to a vote in the Plenary of the Parliament, after having been previously debated in the Commission of Tourism, Culture, Sports, Labor, Public Function, and Social Dialogue, where the result ended in a tie.
The initiative aimed for these types of entities to be able to apply for aid for exchange, dissemination, and external projection activities, even when such actions did not involve the charging of a fee or honorarium.
Likewise, the point requesting the Government to incorporate a specific provision for unpaid performances of "high cultural, social, or heritage interest" in future calls has been rejected, as long as the quality of the project, its cultural dimension, the actual expenses incurred, and the return for the culture of the Balearic Islands were duly accredited.
Both sections have ultimately been discarded with 27 votes against from the PP and non-attached deputies, compared to 23 favorable votes from PSIB, MÉS per Mallorca, and the Mixed Group, and with three abstentions from Vox.
On the other hand, the Parliament has approved another point of a PNL also tied, in this case promoted by the PP, in which the fiscal, educational, social, and housing measures promoted by the Government in the current legislature to increase the disposable income of families and mitigate the impact of the rising cost of living are recognized. In this vote, the PP and non-attached deputies supported the text, while PSIB, MÉS per Mallorca, and the Mixed Group voted against, and the deputies from Vox abstained.
