At least one Police officer has lost his life this Tuesday in an attack carried out by unidentified individuals in the Iranian county of Saravan, in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, in the southeast of the country. The authorities have confirmed the incident and, for the moment, no group has claimed responsibility.

The Police of the province has indicated that the officer, identified as Hojat Vafakardé, was hit by gunfire when he was leaving his home. Likewise, it has underlined that the perpetrators would be members of a group "affiliated with the United States and the Israeli regime", without specifying the name of the organization.

On the other hand, Iranian security forces killed on Monday a presumed member of the Sunni extremist group Jaish al Adl during a confrontation in this same region, without more details having emerged about what happened, according to the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

Jaish al Adl was created in 2012 by former members of another extremist organization active in this province, where part of the Baloch minority, predominantly Sunni Muslim, resides. This group has claimed various attacks, kidnappings, and executions, which has increased tension between Iran and Pakistan.

Tehran has repeatedly asked Pakistan, which also suffers actions by Baloch separatist groups in the west of its territory, to strengthen cooperation to combat these formations, since the perpetrators of several attacks have managed to flee after crossing the shared border.
