The ESMO Congress 2026, which will be held in Madrid (Spain) from October 23 to 27, 2026, will feature extensive participation from Hengrui Pharma, which will carry out a total of 64 scientific presentations. The program includes three selected papers, three rapid oral presentations, 32 posters, and 26 electronic posters.
In its eleventh consecutive attendance at this international meeting, the company will present advances in more than ten areas of oncology and, for the second consecutive year, will have its own booth in the exhibition area.
Boosting innovation in ADC for breast and lung cancer
Two internally developed ADCs —trastuzumab rezetecan (SHR-A1811), targeting HER2, and ruzaltatug rezetecan (SHR-A2009), targeting HER3— have been selected as highlighted works at the congress. These studies focus on addressing unmet therapeutic needs in breast cancer and lung cancer.
Trastuzumab rezetecan will be evaluated in the HORIZON-Breast06 study, a phase 3 randomized trial in patients with advanced breast cancer with low HER2 expression, coordinated by academic Binghe Xu, from the Oncology Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. The data will help deepen its potential clinical benefit for this group of patients. This ADC is being developed for more than ten indications, including breast, lung, gastric, colorectal, and cervical cancer.
For its part, the HERON-Lung01 trial, led by Professor Yi-Long Wu, from the Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, will present interim analyses comparing ruzaltatug rezetecan versus platinum-based chemotherapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer with EGFR mutation, after progression on treatment with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKI). The National Medical Products Administration of China accepted its marketing application in July 2026. This drug-antibody conjugate also has fast track designation from the U.S. FDA for metastatic NSCLC with EGFR mutation that has progressed after a third-generation EGFR-TKI and platinum chemotherapy. Additionally, a phase 3 trial is underway analyzing ruzaltatug rezetecan combined with an EGFR-TKI as first-line therapy in locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC with EGFR mutation.
With HER2 and HER3 as priority targets, Hengrui Pharma has configured a portfolio of antibody-drug conjugates that covers multiple therapeutic targets and continues to expand its potential use in different tumors and treatment scenarios. Its strategy combines the optimization of already established targets with the research of new emerging targets.
Reinforcement of clinical value in established and new therapies
The PD-1 inhibitor from Hengrui Pharma, camrelizumab —an already established drug—, will be part of UNION, a phase 3 trial analyzing a neoadjuvant approach based on short-cycle radiotherapy followed by camrelizumab and chemotherapy in locally advanced rectal cancer. Likewise, in a rapid oral presentation, the results of a phase 2 study of the ADC SHR-A2102 targeting Nectin-4 in patients with recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer will be presented.
Another rapid oral presentation will show the preliminary phase 2 data of the KRAS G12D inhibitor, HRS-4642, in combination with chemotherapy, with or without adebrelimab, as perioperative treatment in pancreatic cancer with KRAS G12D mutation. The combination of HRS-4642 with gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel has received in China the designation of innovative therapy for the first-line treatment of advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer with KRAS G12D mutation.
Global projection of Chinese oncological innovation
The R&D and innovation teams of Hengrui Pharma will participate alongside oncologists and researchers from around the world during the congress, with the aim of reinforcing international scientific exchange regarding their products and research projects.
Jo Feng, president and chief operating officer of Hengrui Pharma, said: "This year marks the eleventh time we participate in ESMO, with 64 research presentations: a new record for Hengrui. We look forward to sharing our latest advances in the development of innovative drugs, presenting clinical evidence that demonstrates significant benefits for patients, and bringing more Chinese innovation for the benefit of patients around the world."
