Police officer Ahmet Turkoglu has lost his life this Wednesday during a shooting that occurred at a traffic control in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, while a vehicle documentation check was being carried out.

The operation was part of an unexpected operation in the Pursaklar district, where the agents stopped a car. While checking the identity of the three occupants, the suspect who was traveling in the back seat abandoned the vehicle and opened fire on one of the police officers, as reported by the Turkish agency Anadolu.

After receiving the alert about the incident, several police patrols and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. After being treated at the site of the incident, Turkoglu was transferred to the Pursaklar state hospital, where he ultimately died due to his injuries.

The governor of Ankara, Yakup Canbolat, has expressed his condolences for the death of the officer and has stated that the alleged attacker "attempted to commit suicide with a shot to the head and is currently receiving treatment, but his condition is critical." The other two occupants of the vehicle, who had fled after the attack, have since been arrested by the police.
