The Chinese authorities reported this Wednesday that at least three people have lost their lives and more than 250 remain missing due to the strong flood recorded in Nepal, caused by a landslide that has mainly affected the border areas between both countries.
The most recent balance released by the Chinese Government raises the number of missing persons to 265 after the violent flood, which in Nepal currently leaves 95 dead and more than 600 missing and has particularly impacted the Nepalese district of Rasuwa and the Chinese autonomous region of Tibet, according to data collected by the Xinhua news agency.
Among the most affected areas are markets, bridges, homes, and checkpoints, including the one in Gyirong, on the Chinese side of the border. The magnitude of the damage has led the President of China, Xi Jinping, to order the deployment of "all necessary means and resources" to locate the missing and assist the affected population.
The Chinese leader, who has urged the evacuation of all residents who may be at risk, has demanded that immediate attention be given to the injured and to the affected individuals in order to minimize the total number of victims.
