The president of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, has communicated the capture in the city of Tarragona, in Spain, of Jhonatan Alexander Castrillón Arango, alias 'Pirry', pointed out as the intellectual responsible for the massacre of seven employees on a farm in Rionegro, in the department of Antioquia (northwest), perpetrated in June 2024.

"Our National Police, through the Criminal Investigation Directorate and Interpol (DIJIN) and the Police Intelligence Directorate (DIPOL) and in coordination with the Police of Spain, has captured today (Tuesday) in Tarragona Jhonatan Alexander Castrillón Arango, alias 'Pirry', wanted for extradition purposes and by means of a red notice from Interpol," the president informed in a message on social media this Tuesday.

The far-right leader has detailed that Castrillón held the position of "second leader of the narcoterrorist group 'La Mesa'," a criminal organization that operates in the Valle de Aburrá, in the central-southern area of Antioquia, as well as in the east of this department. Alias 'Pirry', the president added, "is wanted for homicide, manufacturing, trafficking and carrying firearms, and conspiracy to commit a crime."

"We are going to seek the criminals inside and outside of Colombia. They can cross borders, change hiding places or try to disappear: our Public Force will find them and bring them before Justice," the Latin American leader emphasized, highlighting that cooperation with Spanish authorities has been key to locating and detaining the suspect.
