At least eight people have lost their lives in a fire that broke out in a textile factory in the Chinese city of Foshan, in the province of Guangdong, in the southeast of the country, according to authorities from the Asian giant.
The fire originated around 3:00 PM (local time) on Sunday in the facilities, where emergency teams are actively conducting search and rescue operations, without ruling out that the number of fatalities may increase.
The incident, which occurred in the district of Shunde and also resulted in one injury, is still under investigation, as the causes of the fire have not yet been clarified. Shunde, located about 20 kilometers from the provincial capital, Guangzhou, is a prominent manufacturing hub in the region.
