At least 14 people have lost their lives this Sunday in a new wave of attacks by the Russian Army against different areas of Ukraine, with nine dead in the region of the capital, Kiev, in the context of the invasion that began in February 2022 by order of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
In the town of Buchansk, in the Kiev region, a Russian drone attack has caused the death of two people and left three injured, according to details shared on social media by the military governor of Kiev, Timur Tkachenko, who also reported other seven fatalities in different points of the province throughout the day.
In the Sumi region, a woman and a 16-year-old minor have died, according to the balance released by the regional military governor, Oleg Hrigorov, in a message published on social media, where he added that five other people have been injured.
In the Kharkiv area, two fatalities and eight injuries have been recorded due to Russian bombings. The military governor, Oleg Sinegubov, indicated that a total of 21 localities in the region have been the subject of attacks, according to the official Ukrainian report.
On the other hand, the governor of the Ukrainian province of Zaporiyia, Mijailo Semikin, has pointed out in a brief statement that "the Russians killed two people in Novotavriske," before specifying that "the enemy hit a vehicle that was traveling through the city," without providing further details.
Semikin has also reported the death of another person in Zaporiyia after the impact of a drone against a house in the provincial capital, Zaporiyia, and has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
Likewise, the State Emergency Service (SES) has confirmed one fatality in a drone attack against "a non-residential building," without specifying the type of facility. "The body of a man was found while firefighters were extinguishing the fire," the agency has stated.
The SES has emphasized that a "vehicle repair shop" in Solomianski, in Kiev, has also been affected, and has added that "thanks to the coordinated efforts of the emergency teams, the flames were prevented from spreading to a nearby restaurant."
For his part, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has condemned the latest series of attacks and has indicated that "the Russians launched more than 2,200 drones against Ukraine in the last week, about 1,650 guided bombs, and 38 missiles of various types, including a significant number of ballistic missiles."
Regarding the attacks of the last hours, the head of State has confirmed damage to "residential buildings," "energy infrastructure," and "other civil infrastructure" in Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv, where a "data center" in the Ukrainian capital has also been affected.
"We are constantly working with European countries, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and other partners to strengthen our defense and promote real diplomacy," he has stated on social media, where he has reproached "the lack of a firm and constant stance from China, India, Brazil, South Africa, the G20 countries, and the Global South."
"In fact, each of these countries has influence over Russia and can contribute to making peace a reality," he has maintained, before emphasizing that "building guaranteed and dignified security in Ukraine means reinforcing security and stability at a global level." "I thank all those who do not remain on the sidelines and help Ukraine," he concluded.
In this scenario, the Ukrainian Air Force has indicated that Russian forces have launched 170 drones against Ukrainian territory in recent hours, of which 147 have been shot down. However, it has confirmed impacts in 18 locations in the country, as well as the fall of debris from interceptions in another eight points.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense has taken responsibility for a series of attacks against "logistical centers," "port and transport infrastructure facilities," "communication centers," and "ships deployed in service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
Among the targets reached in Kyiv is "a data processing center of Vodafone, one of the largest providers of mobile communication and high-speed Internet services for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the transmission of intelligence data," according to Moscow's version.
The Ministry has added that its air defense systems have destroyed 96 drones launched by Ukraine during the night against the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, and Kursk, as well as in the waters of the Black Sea and over the Crimean peninsula, annexed in 2014 by Russia in a move that does not have the recognition of the international community.
