The French Government has demanded that Israel act immediately against the Israeli settlers who have been harassing two Palestinian families in the West Bank town of Qusra for days. According to Paris, these families suffer repeated cuts to electricity and water by dozens of settlers, who have also set up several tents in the area, a practice prohibited even by Israeli law.

In a statement released on its website, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs "condemns in the strongest terms the occupation by Israeli settlers of several Palestinian homes" in Qusra, "as well as the violence perpetrated against Palestinian civilians."

In this context, France "urges" the Israeli authorities "to arrest and bring to justice those responsible for these acts," insisting that effective measures be taken against the perpetrators of the assaults.

For its part, the Israeli Army, usually pointed out as complicit in the incursions of settlers, has made a call for calm this Friday and stated that its current priority is to ensure the protection of the affected families.

Furthermore, the military command has indicated that "the soldiers will not enter the house of the Palestinian family" located near the point where the tent used by the settlers had been set up, a facility that has already been "dismantled."
