The Israeli Army has confirmed that it has carried out a bombing in the north of the Gaza Strip against the person responsible for a "terrorist" cell of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), despite the ceasefire agreed upon in the enclave since October 2025.
"The Israeli Army has attacked the head of a cell of the terrorist organization Hamas in the north of the Gaza Strip that was planning to carry out terrorist attacks against Israeli forces," it stated this Wednesday in a brief statement, released along with a video of the airstrike, without providing details about the identity of the target.
The military leadership has maintained that this Hamas commander was preparing actions against its forces deployed in the north of Gaza and that the operation was carried out to "eliminate the threat" it posed. "The forces of the Israeli Army under the Southern Command are deployed in the area under the agreement and will continue to act to eliminate any immediate threat," the statement added.
According to Palestinian medical sources cited by the newspaper 'Filastin', the Israeli attack, carried out in the town of Beit Lahia, has resulted in the death of a man, identified as Muhannad Saada, and would have also left several injured.
The authorities of Gaza, controlled by Hamas, have already placed the number of deceased at more than 1,260 and the injured at more than 4,100 due to Israeli operations since the ceasefire came into effect in October 2025. In total, 73,386 Palestinians have died and another 174,256 have been injured since the beginning of Israel's offensive following the attack carried out by Palestinian militias on October 7, 2023.
