The Israeli Army reported this Monday the interception of a drone that was moving from Israeli territory towards the Gaza Strip, without it being known at the moment who was operating the device or what its purpose was.
"The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) identified during the night a drone that was attempting to cross from Israeli territory to the Gaza Strip," it stated in a brief message on social media. "After detection, the forces intercepted it within Israeli territory," it said, before adding that "its content is being examined."
According to information published by the Israeli newspaper 'The Times of Israel', the drone was shot down near the kibbutz Nahal Oz. The device is said to be a DJI Flycart model, designed to transport loads of several dozen kilograms.
In recent years, Israeli forces have reported the neutralization of dozens of drones that would have penetrated their airspace from Jordan and Egypt, as well as the downing of other devices that were heading from Israel towards the Strip with the aim of introducing weapons or other materials.
