The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, landed this Friday in the United States with the aim of attending a meeting of Foreign Ministers of the G20 in Atlanta, scheduled for October 30 and 31 and preparatory for the summit that the organization will hold in mid-December in Miami.
According to information gathered by the Russian news agency TASS, the delegation headed by Lavrov has arrived at the city airport after more than 20 hours of flight, since the plane had to avoid the airspace of several "hostile" countries in order to complete the route.
The presence of the top official of Russian diplomacy comes at a time of renewed momentum for the talks aimed at trying to bring an end to the conflict unleashed by the order to invade Ukraine, signed in February 2022 by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in a context marked by a recent summit in Oslo and a subsequent trip to Saint Petersburg by the White House envoy, Steve Witkoff.
The talks in Atlanta aim to establish the basis for the said G20 leaders' summit in Miami, which it is not yet clear whether Putin will attend, although his American counterpart, Donald Trump, has shown himself open to his participation in the meeting in Doral.
