A joint intervention by the Army and the Colombian Air Force in the department of Valle del Cauca has ended with the death in combat of an alleged dissident member of the FARC and the detention of three other people, among them the top responsible for the armed structure, according to what the Colombian president, Abelardo de la Espriella, has detailed.
The operation took place in the village of El Moral, in the jurisdiction of the municipality of El Cerrito. The military forces acted against the company 'Eiber González', linked to the 'Adán Izquierdo' faction of the dissident group under the command of Néstor Gregorio Vera, alias 'Iván Mordisco'. In the firefight, the troops killed one of the suspects and captured three others, among them the head of the cell, Alex Antonio Jaramillo Hoyos, alias 'JJ', who was injured during the confrontation. In the same operation, a 17-year-old minor was detained.
After the armed clash, the uniformed officers seized a large arsenal that included four rifles, pistols, revolvers, a handmade mortar, 16 grenades adapted to be launched from drones, seven explosive devices and abundant ammunition. Likewise, the troops confiscated mobile phones, communication equipment, a Starlink satellite connectivity antenna, 12 propaganda banners and 11 million pesos (about 3,100 euros) in cash.
De la Espriella praised the actions of the Military Forces for a "decisive blow" that, as he emphasized, reduces the command capacity and economic resources of a structure accused of extorting, attacking and subjugating the civilian population in the central area of Valle del Cauca.
