The Russian authorities have communicated this Friday new advances on the ground in the Donetsk province, in eastern Ukraine, an area partially controlled by Moscow since the beginning of the invasion launched in February 2022 by order of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
The Ministry of Defense of Russia has indicated on its official accounts on social networks that its forces have begun to control the localities of "Veroliubovka" and "Zolotoi Kolodez", without providing information about possible casualties or the specific development of the fighting. For the moment, the authorities in Kiev have not offered a reaction to these statements.
In recent months, Moscow has been reporting military progress in Ukrainian territory, with special emphasis on Donetsk. This province, along with "Lugansk", both integrated into the Donbas region, had already been the scene since 2014 of a conflict between pro-Russian separatist militias and Ukrainian government forces.
