The Likud party, to which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu belongs, has reiterated that the head of Government had no prior knowledge that the Palestinian militias were going to launch the attack against Israel that occurred exactly three years ago today.
According to the party, the prime minister "did not receive any prior warning before October 7 about an attack by Hamas from the Gaza Strip or from Hamas, as testified by President Trump, President Biden's advisor Brett McGurk, the Government of the United Arab Emirates, the Government of Egypt, and others," referring to the information broadcast by Channel 12 of Israeli television.
Likud accuses this television channel of "spreading false information with the aim of overthrowing the right-wing government and bringing about a left-wing government that establishes a Palestinian state."
In its reply, the party emphasizes that Netanyahu was first alerted to the Hamas attack at 06:29 hours on October 7, when the offensive by the militias was already underway, and argues that if the leader "had been informed in real time, everything would have been different."
On this day of remembrance for the third anniversary, Netanyahu did not attend the commemorative ceremonies, although he did participate on Monday in the event set by the Israeli Executive according to the Hebrew calendar to honor the atrocity. The events this Wednesday have been organized mainly by family members of the victims and survivors of the attack.
The prime minister has limited himself to lighting a candle "in commemoration of each victim murdered on October 7 by the monsters of Hamas."
"The nation unites on this day in longing for our loved ones. We will complete the mission: we have settled accounts and will continue to settle accounts with all the murderers," his office stated in a communiqué.
