The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Saturday the launch of an "AI Force" and the upcoming appointment of a "czar" within his administration to lead and coordinate the national strategy on artificial intelligence (AI). With this initiative, the leader responds to recent warnings from prominent executives and experts in the field about the speed at which this technology is advancing.

In a message disseminated on his social media, the American leader has downplayed the alerts about the rapid progress of AI, presented by some as a possible risk to the survival of humanity. Trump has reiterated his intention to promote its development in the United States and has emphasized that the current legal framework already acts as a control mechanism.

"In no way will we hinder or slow down the growth of this incredible industry. On the contrary, we will value it, support it, and ensure its development. However, we will also be vigilant against bad practices, and we can easily do this with our existing criminal and civil justice system," he stated.

The president has equated the relevance of this technology to milestones such as the expansion of the Internet and has described it as "the next industrial revolution." In his view, its effect "will be greater" and he has even pointed out that AI could come to represent up to 25% of Washington's GDP.

In this context, the Republican leader has announced the formal creation of this "Artificial Intelligence Force," the details of which have not yet been publicly disclosed. He has also confirmed that he will soon make official the appointment of a new government "czar" for the field of AI, a position that has remained vacant since David Sacks — appointed in December 2024 as head of AI and cryptocurrencies at the White House — completed his term as a special official last March.

"I am creating the Artificial Intelligence Force, very similarly to how I did with the Space Force, which has been a tremendous success during my first term. To that end, I will announce, in the near future, the 'czar' of AI," he clarified.

The announcement comes as preparations are finalized for the upcoming summit in Washington between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, where the struggle for global leadership in artificial intelligence is expected to play a leading role. Last week, Sacks pointed out in an interview with CBS that fears about a possible existential threat from AI are "exaggerated" and defended the advisability of maintaining the pace of innovation under reasonable prudence.
