At least two people have been injured after a new wave of attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against facilities of the e-commerce giant Wildberries, known as the 'Russian Amazon', and against a refinery located in the region of Bashkortostan, in the easternmost part of Europe.
The governor of Bashkortostan, Radi Jabirov, has assured that the region has once again been the target this Thursday of "terrorist attacks" by Ukrainian forces. "The remains of one of the drones fell in the industrial area of Salavat," he pointed out, explaining that the impact caused a fire, without providing further details.
"In total, they have used 21 drones, of which 16 have been shot down in Salavat," Jabirov specified. In this locality is one of the main oil and petrochemical refineries in Russia, which has been attacked by Ukraine up to three times in the last year, forcing it to halt its activity.
In 2024, the plant refined nearly 7.2 million tons of crude, which represents about 2.7% of the total national production.
Likewise, the attacks have also reached a "logistics center" of Wildberries in the Chishminski district. "Two people have been injured," Jabirov denounced, who, like in the case of the refinery, has not provided additional information about the characteristics of these facilities.
In recent weeks, Wildberries centers in the regions of Tula, Tver, Leningrad, and Moscow have become recurring targets of Ukrainian drones, causing several fatalities and dozens of injuries.
With this intensive campaign against the main digital commerce platform in Russia, Kiev seeks not only to impact the country's economy but also to undermine morale and directly convey the consequences of the conflict to the Russian population, which has already been facing supply problems at gas stations due to the bombings on refineries and other oil infrastructures for weeks.
