The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, communicated this Wednesday a reinforcement and reorganization of military positions in the Donetsk region, taking advantage of a visit to the combat line in Zaporizhia where he was accompanied by the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mykhailo Drapati.
"Today I am with our warriors who defend extremely difficult sectors of the front. Our positions in the Donetsk region will be reinforced with two groups of restructured forces, which will be commanded by the heroes of Ukraine Denis Prokopenko and Andri Biletsky," he pointed out on his social networks, after awarding the latter a decoration in recognition of his services to the country.
The head of the Ukrainian state has moved to the "Oleksandrivski sector," where he held a meeting with soldiers from the 80th Air Assault Brigade of Halitska. These troops have conveyed "specific requests: supply of drones, long-range artillery, and small radars, direct funding for the brigades, training and motivation" of the soldiers, in addition to exposing "problems with deserters."
During the visit, Zelensky expressed a message of "gratitude" to the troops deployed on this front and highlighted their resilience "with pride and resilience" throughout the more than four years of war that began after the Russian invasion. "This is the main reason why Ukraine exists and lives," he emphasized.
In the same intervention, he praised the air force for the "achievements" gained in Zaporizhia, Donetsk, Dnipro "and other crucial sectors of the front." He described these actions as "already one of our historical operations, which has allowed us to demonstrate that Ukrainians know how to achieve their goals and how to inflict significant losses on the Russians. The counteroffensive of Oleksandrivski."
Finally, he insisted that "every step we take to push back the Russians provides greater security to our people and more diplomatic opportunities for Ukraine to end this war with dignity. We will continue our active defense."
