The president of the Junta de Extremadura, the 'popular' María Guardiola, has supported the meeting that the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, had this Wednesday with the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, and has reiterated that she would be willing to host the Argentine leader in Extremadura to explore possible investments in the region.
"It seems absolutely normal to me because she is looking out for the interests of all Madrilenians," Guardiola indicated upon her arrival at the ceremony for the XIV Truth, Memory, Dignity, and Justice Award and the Crosses of Dignity, promoted by the Association of Victims of Terrorism (AVT) and held this Thursday in the Senate.
The meeting between Ayuso and Milei took place during the official visit of the Argentine president to Spain, in which the Madrid leader defended the "respect" for the Argentine head of state for having been elected at the polls.
During that trip to Spain, Milei also labeled the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, as a "dictator," and had several dialectical exchanges with journalists who posed questions to him.
In light of these statements, Guardiola has emphasized the importance of "lowering the tension and maintaining respect" among public officials. "I respect everyone and I will continue to do so. And I believe that is the example we public representatives and political representatives must set," she stressed.
When questioned about the reasons why the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, did not meet with Milei during his stay in Spain, Guardiola assured that she "does not know" his agenda. In any case, she reiterated that she would be "absolutely delighted" to welcome the Argentine president in Extremadura to discuss the community's opportunities as a hub for attracting investment.
