The Popular Party has presented in the Congress of Deputies a motion resulting from an urgent interpellation against the Government's educational policy, in which it demands the reprimand of the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, for her management at the head of the department.
In the registered text, which Europa Press has accessed, the 'popular' request that Tolón be censured for the "disastrous" results obtained by Spain in the PISA 2025 report, which they attribute "to the educational policies of the Government and not assuming any responsibility."
The initiative also proposes to reprimand the head of Education for the "terrible management" of the start of the school year, following the serious events that occurred on July 30 and 31 in Ceuta, which the PP considers poorly addressed by the Ministry.
As a consequence of these criticisms, the Popular Group urges in its motion the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to dismiss Milagros Tolón "so that education is a true priority of the Government's political agenda" and a change of direction occurs in this matter.
In the last plenary session of the Congress of Deputies, the PP deputy Jaime de los Santos had already attacked the minister, accusing her of "pointing to the autonomous communities that sustain as they can what has represented a criminal law, which bears the names of Celaá, Alegría, and Tolón, and a common denominator, Pedro Sánchez."
De los Santos then recalled that "Celaá, in Rome, perhaps illuminated by the Holy Spirit, says that, indeed, the law that bears her name is nonsense and that if she had to design it as it is, it is because of the debts that Pedro Sánchez had with the groups that do not believe in Spain."
In that parliamentary intervention, the popular deputy also reproached the minister for having "allowed 309 million euros that could today be resolving the crisis in Ceuta in educational matters, to be taken by Sánchez to pay his 700 advisors" and asked: "Where is Minister Tolón denouncing such an issue?".
In this same context, De los Santos stated that the "only educational contribution" of Tolón "was to direct the centers of Ceuta an instruction in which he told them that, given the circumstances, the best thing was for the students not to learn what they have to learn." According to what he stated, "That is what you indicated to the territorial director, to convey to the management of the educational centers to lower the level even more."
